Moss, lichen and debris on tile or metal roofs

Identify whether the build-up is attached moss or lichen, loose leaves, or dirt on the roof finish. Also report any leak or displaced material before cleaning is planned. A roof can need surface cleaning and a separate repair; visible growth alone does not establish that the covering needs replacing.

Surface build-up can vary with roof material, weather exposure, surrounding trees, drainage and the roof's age. We inspect the material and drainage on site, choose a suitable cleaning method and identify any repair work needed.

Match the cleaning method to the roof surface

We check the material, existing coating, surface condition, pitch and build-up to choose a suitable method. Nearby solar panels, penetrations and drainage affect how we manage loosened debris and runoff. We assess damaged roofing or water-entry concerns before cleaning proceeds.

Where debris affects the drainage route, we plan gutter and downpipe clearing alongside the roof cleaning. Any component repairs are identified separately.

Roof surface or gutter channel?

Surface growth
Attached moss or lichen on tiles and metal finishes needs a surface assessment before a method is chosen. Describe any coating, loose material or leak alongside the cleaning request.
Roof-edge debris
Our clearing photos show loose debris and plant growth along metal roof edges and gutter channels. Removing that build-up is a defined clearing task; it does not demonstrate a whole-roof wash or coating restoration.
Separate defects
A cracked tile, damaged finish or leaking connection needs a repair decision as well as a cleaning plan. Keep those items separate in the quote so the intended result is clear.

Roof cleaning quotes & assessment booking

What affects roof cleaning costs

Roof height, access, weather, nearby services and the location of build-up affect the cleaning work. We identify the included roof areas and method in the quote. Any repairs or additional drainage work are identified separately for approval before work begins.

Before arranging a visit, we explain any inspection or booking fee that applies. Repair pricing is confirmed after assessment and before work begins.

Details for an assessment and quote

  • Your suburb, the visible build-up and which roof areas are affected.
  • The roof material or coating if known, nearby solar panels or rainwater tanks, and any existing leak or damage.
  • The number of storeys, access arrangements and any previous cleaning or treatment.

Photos are optional. A written description or an indoor or ground-level photo is enough to start the enquiry.

Roof moss, lichen & cleaning method questions

Can roof cleaning fix a roof leak?

No. Cleaning removes surface build-up; a leak needs the water-entry path investigated and any defective components assessed for repair.

Should I pressure-clean a roof myself?

Do not climb onto a roof or use cleaning equipment from an unsafe position. Record what is visible from the ground and describe it in an enquiry.
